MDU Resources Community Bowl Unveils New Renovations

Posted: Updated:

The MDU Resources Community Bowl unveils its new renovations.

The cost of the project totals eight million dollars.

Demolition of the old facility began in June 2012.

Athletes have two new locker and training rooms and a new scoreboard in addition to a resurfaced track.

There is also a new three floor spectator building with space for coaches and corporate suites.

The bottom floor has a new concessions area.

The facility is used by Bismarck Public Schools, the University of Mary, Bismarck State College and Saint Mary's for soccer, football and track.

Community Bowl Facility Manager Mel Fischer says the space hosts 450 events a year, and that's just for now.

"Besides the many sporting events we have here, it provides an opportunity for the community to host other types of events. Maybe at some point we can have some outdoor concerts we can have some movies or those kinds of things," says MDU Resources Community Bowl Facility Manager Mel Fischer.

Fischer says it's not uncommon to see six thousand visitors at the facility for a football game between some of the local high schools.
