Young Professionals in Energy

Posted: Updated:

The last oil boom to hit the area was in the 1980's, and the current boom has brought an influx of thousands of energy employees to Minot alone.

But how do these transplants get into the industry and do they compare literal and figurative notes?

In fact, they do.

Young Professionals in Energy is a non profit that crosses professional and geographic borders around the world.

North Dakota native Adam Landstrom founded the Minot group, who holds regular mixers.

Landstrom says that you don't have to be young in age to be young in the oil field and that more experienced professionals are welcome to come and share their knowledge.

(Adam Landstrom, Executive Director, YPE Minot) "Its aimed at people who are landmen, roughnecks, attorneys, accountants... It's open to all people who are in the energy industry. It's not just specific to oil and gas, but also those who are in renewable, government relations, financial, banking..."

YPE Minot's next luncheon will be June 19th.

To find out the location or other information you can follow YPE Minot on facebook and twitter or at ypenergy.org
