Today is the Bicentennial Celebration marking the independence of Norway, often called Syttende Mai, which translates from Norwegian into seventeenth of May.
In recognition of the day, the Scandinavian heritage center and sons of Norway are holding an all day celebration, including dancing, music and food.
Earlier this afternoon people dressed in traditional garb walked in a parade, learned about their heritage and relaxed on the grounds.
(Martha Elliot, President of District 4 Sons of Norway) "Always maintain our heritage. And tonight we wear the festive dress, our Norwegian bunads. And so it's always a celebration of our heritage and keeping it alive."
To finish with the days events, there will be a banquet this evening.
