Anita Knutson Death Anniversary

Posted: Updated:

Wednesday marks seven years since the murder of Minot State University student -- and Velva High School graduate -- Anita Knutson.

She was stabbed to death in her north hill apartment in Minot on June 4th, 2007.

Authorities recovered a murder weapon that day...but never have been able to pin the crime on anyone.

In fact, it is now classified as a 'Cold Case', which has actually been beneficial by bringing more investigators on to the case

Minot detective Lt. Jason Sundbakken has worked the crime from the beginning.

He says it is one of his most troubling files...

(Lt. Jason Sundbakken - Minot Police Department) "For us it is frustrating that we can't get a resolution for the family...and for Anita. It is frustrating that it has gone on this long but we are persistent and we will keep investigating until we find something. It will never be closed, it is always an open case as far as the police department is concerned and there is not a statute of limitations on murder so we will investigate it until we get to that point."

More on the investigation -- and where the unsolved case stands tomorrow, the 7 year anniversary of the killing, on KX News.
