Some special guests will be wetting their lines at Upper Souris National Wildlife Refuge this Saturday.
It's the refuge's 21st annual
Special Needs Fishing Day.
This area - the Outlet Fishing Area located just below Lake Darling Dam will be closed to the public Saturday morning through mid-afternoon to allow the big crowd access to the water.
Duane Anderson of the refuge says the workers, sponsors, and volunteers have a great time with the day - as do the special guests.
(Duane Anderson, Upper Souris National Wildlife Refuge) "Talking to a couple of the organizations in Minot, some of their folks have been looking forward to this for several weeks - they keep asking when are we going fishing? So it is a very important and fun event for them, they remember it. And of course for the workers and the organizations that sponsor it, it's a very satisfying and gratifying day to help folks fish that don't normally have the opportunity to do that."
