Bismarck, ND -
A state audit paints a shady picture of the North Dakota Game and Fish Department.
The audit which can be read in full on the state auditor's website was released in April of this year.
It shows a number of discrepancies...
Including improper payments to employees and more than 100 guns that are unaccounted for from a volunteer hunter education program.
Game and Fish Director Terry Steinwand says corrective actions are being taken.
(Terry Steinwand/ND Game and Fish Director) "That's the high standard we hold to ourselves. We want to be accountable to the sporting public of North Dakota. And honestly, I think we have been. We're going to do better though."
Steinwand says 90 percent of their issues will be taken care of by July.
