Military Appreciation Road March

Posted: Updated:
Today was pretty windy, but that didn't stop over 100 people from coming together to honor our fallen soldiers..

The Military Appreciation Road March started 7 years ago as a way to honor our soldiers who served our country and to remember those who lost their lives doing so.

People of all ages and even a few dogs walked 9 miles to the North Dakota Veterans cemetery.

Today 3 very special soldiers are remembered.. Travis Van Zoest, Curtis Mehrer and Tyler Orgaard.

Their friends and families all came out today to show their support and honor the young men.

They say they love this event because it brings everyone together and it's become somewhat of a healing process.

"It's a family reunion," Joyce Mehrer said. "So we can remember our soldiers and what they do do over there not just our fallen but the veterans that have all served," Sheila Van Zoest said.

There are currently about 100 North Dakota Guardsmen fighting the global war on terrorism.
