Summer Reading Kickoff

Posted: Updated:

Elementary students in the Minot area spent today getting excited about summertime reading.

The Minot Public Library teamed up with the Ward County public library to kickoff their summer reading activities.

Kids enjoyed entertainment from a live band, and even a play put on by the Pangea House this afternoon.

Reading activities will continue every Monday through Thursday at the library this summer.

The children's librarian says that it's crucial to keep students interested in reading, even during these hot summer months.

(Paulette Nelson, Children's Librarian) "It's very important because during the summer, if they don't read, they lose what they've learned throughout the year. And they'll go back to school and have to start a month or 2 behind, so there's really a push to get the kids into the library, into reading, and continue that through the summer."

Summer reading activities for kids will be held at the Minot Public Library all summer.

Kids can sign up by visiting the library at any time during the week up until August 14th.
