It's mosquito season in the state, and along with the nuisance the bugs bring, there can also be West Nile lurking in that next bite.
According to the state's Department of Health, 2013 resulted in 127 human cases of the virus, and two deaths.
First District Health Unit began testing this week, and has set-up two mosquito traps in Minot.
They, like many other clinics in North Dakota will send the bugs to the state health department where they will be analyzed.
As of this year, there have been no confirmed cases of West Nile in any North Dakota county.
People over 50, or those with chronic health issues are more at risk from West Nile's deadly side-effects.
