Ducks Rescued From Storm Drain

Posted: Updated:

When you're young, you count on your parents to keep you safe and teach you critical life lessons.

But some lessons you learn on your own.

That was the case for eight ducklings today in central Minot.

They were out for a walk with mama duck and discovered they shouldn't walk near storm sewer grates.

Because they can't get back out.

At least not without some human intervention.

Police were notified by a neighbor that the ducklings were stuck in the drain.

And within minutes, the rescuers had fished-out all of the young birds and herded them back toward mother duck - who was waiting at a safe distance.

Reunited, the duck family headed off to learn more about the world.
