Election Highlights

Posted: Updated:

Primary election day brought very few statewide or county races, because candidates were simply moving on to the general election in November.

But local races were decided.

And voters in Watford City and Williston said yes to some financial commitments.

In Watford City, 85% of voters approved an extension of the city's one cent sales tax.

In Williston, 76% of voters said yes to a 34-million dollar bond plan for building a new school.

Also in Williston, the race for school board positions resulted in one incumbent reelected - and two challengers taking the other two seats that were open, knocking out two other incumbents.

It was the same story in the Park Board race in Williston, where one incumbent was reelected, while two others were unseated.

Minot's Park Board race saw Connie Feist, Nancy Beck, and Chuck Emery winning seats.

And in the Minot School Board race, it was the two incumbents, Laura Mihalick and Steve Velk winning reelection.
