Thousands of people are at the State Fair Center in Minot celebrating a birthday.
Verendrye Electric Cooperative is 75 years old and, as part of its annual meeting, is throwing a party including live music.
Jim Olson is live at the State Fair Center to tell us what's happening.
The North Dakota group Tigirlily is on stage right now as part of the 75th Anniversary of Verendrye Electric annual meeting.
Along with the free concert, the coop is offering members a free dinner and a chance to check out historical displays and pick up a copy of the new 75th anniversary book that's all about the cooperative's history.
Tom Rafferty of Verendrye says the focus of the event is pointing out the history of the coop - and getting younger members involved.
(Tom Rafferty, Verendrye Electric Coop) "The older generation--there's going to be tons of people here tonight that remember the night the power was turned on. So, they know and appreciate the coop. The younger generation--not all of them know that story, so we want to tell that story and we hope we get the younger people fired up and they'll want to be more involved in the coop."
The annual meeting also includes the election of board members.
The event wraps up about 8:30 tonight.
