Family of Dentists

Posted: Updated:

With Father's Day weekend here, you may be pausing to consider what an impact he had on your life.

For one local family, Father's Day is special because of how one man influenced his son and granddaughter to follow in his footsteps.

Carla Burbidge tells us about a local family, with a three-generation tradition.

An avid biker and runner well into his senior years. Before that, he spent years taking care of people's teeth. In fact, in World War Two, he was a navy dentist.

Clarence Olson, "the crew would line up and we would fix their teeth"

After the war, Clarence, a native of Willow City, ended up setting up his dental practice in Mohall. He stayed there 40 years. He was my dentist when I was a young girl. But these days I see Dr. David Olson, Clarence's son. David says his Dad never pushed him into this career, but he was a big influence in all aspects of his life.

Dr. David Olson "I would come home from college, and see how people would thank and react to my Dad, it was a big influence"

and now, David's daughter Megan, who just graduated from dental school, and will join David's Minot practice, very soon.

Megan, I think it was always in the back of my mind to come back to Minot and be in practice with my Dad"

Clarence, David and now Megan. Just think about how many families, have been helped by this family of dentists.

Clarence "it makes you feel kind of good"

David "I'm real proud of my father and my daughter"

Clarence "three generations of dentists, that doesn't happen often"
