Williston Area Oral History Project

Posted: Updated:

How has the Bakken impacted YOUR life?

A group of researchers is in the Williston area looking for a variety of answers to that question.

The University of Minnesota has partnered with the North Dakota Historical Society to produce an archive of stories about the Bakken experience.

Professor Bruce Braun and his team would like to hear from people of all backgrounds: life-long North Dakotans and those looking for a new start.

He wants to hear about experiences in the search for housing and work, the nature of work and social lives in the Bakken.

(Bruce Braun, Professor of Geography Environmental Society, University of Minnesota) "I've been noticing the changes and I've been more and more curious. For me at least, I have to write about this. I have to really dig into it. I have colleagues that are equally interested in this subject, so I thought since we're doing this, lets create something for the people of North Dakota so they have something that they can consult in the future."

The researchers will be set up through Saturday from 1-5 p.m. at the Williston Area Recreation Center.

Feel free to stop in or volunteer someone you know with a story to tell.

The possibility of a dangerous accident on the railroads of North Dakota is something that requires your local firefighters and emergency responders to be prepared for the worst.
