Highway Patrol Uses Tire Spikes to Stop Reckless Driver

Posted:

A 44-year-old Minnesota man faces multiple charges after a pursuit on I-94 Saturday near New Salem.

Brett Rikess of St. Paul is charged with class 'C' felony reckless endangerment and five misdemeanors including possession of drug paraphernalia and reckless driving.

The Highway Patrol responded to a call of a reckless driver around 6:20pm heading westbound.

A trooper attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver fled before being stopped by tire spikes west of Richardton.

The spikes flattened the two front tires and the patrol was able to take the man into custody.
