New Crew Promotes Zoo

Posted: Updated:

The Greater Minot Zoological Society has been around since the 1970's, but today the group became the Minot Zoo Crew.

The group's mission to provide education and conservation is the same, but its members hope the updated title will bring in more support from the community.

(Ron Merritt, Executive Director of Minot Park District) "We have all of these wonderful exhibits that would not have happened without them. We are very fortunate to have this group, we are excited for their new branding, and we wish them all the luck in the world."

Currently, the group is working with the Minot Park District and the Roosevelt Park Zoo on breaking ground on future projects.

(Becky Dewitz, Minot Zoo Crew Development Director) "We would like to bring in some new animals. Some very exciting things coming about with the aviary. That building was established in 1821, it was the heart and soul of the Zoo for many years. Now with the redesign of making it an aviary, we will have new animals with that."

The zoo will also be adding a Red Panda habitat to its list of exhibits soon.
