A leaking pipeline in Bottineau County has spilled about 250 barrels of brine - an oilfield salt-water waste.
The North Dakota Department of Health was notified yesterday and cleanup efforts by Enduro Operating are now underway.
The spill impacted soil and surface water of a creek about three miles northeast of Mohall.
Water Quality Director Karl Rockeman says the creek is a tributary to the Souris River, which is about 30 miles downstream.
He says containment dikes have been placed in the creek and about 200 barrels of saltwater have been recovered.
