A 31-year-old man is shot and killed by an officer in Dickinson after a high speedchase. According to a statement released by the Dickinson Police Department, they were called to the 1000 block of 9th Street East around 6:30pm about shots being fired.
The 9-1-1 caller said they were coming from someone in a Dodge pickup.
Police say when they arrived, they spotted the vehicle and tried to pull it over.
It accelerated and lead the officer on a high-speed pursuit through a residential neighborhood.
They say the man driving the truck eventually stopped the vehicle in the 200 block of Adams Avenue and fled on foot.
Police say a perimeter was created around the neighborhood and a home where the suspect had known acquaintances was searched.
They say they found him inside and he fled on foot towards other officers on the perimeter.
Captain Joe Cianni says officers shot at the man and he was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital where he later died.
Police say the pickup truck was stolen and had a number of other stolen items inside of it from a business burglary earlier yesterday morning.
A victim also came forward to them saying the man shot at her while she was a passenger in his truck.
The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation has taken over the case due to an officer being involved in the shooting.
