Midcontinent Communication Imposter Alert

 By Alicia Ewen

Midcontinent Communications has sent out a mass alert to customers warning them of potential imposters visiting their home.

Door-to-door sellers are visiting homes claiming to be Midcontinent contractors checking in on equipment.

They actually represent a company called Dish One Satellite.

These sellers have had their licenses revoked when residents in Grand Forks filed complaints to the Police Department.

Midcontinent says they are moving to other parts of North Dakota, primarily Bismarck, before people get word of their real intentions.

Public Safety officials say to always check before letting someone into your home.

"Consumers just need to be very aware.  Be careful, treat them for what they are, people coming into your door to try and sell you something, and don't immediately rely on that information." said Parrel Grossman of the State of North Dakota Attorney General.

These sales people are claiming to be not just Midcontinent but several different phone and cable companies.

If you are unsure, you should check for identification badges or call 1-800-888-1300. to verify their identity.
