Catrina L. Shafer is recognized as an NAPW VIP Woman of the Year for her outstanding leadership and commitment within her profession

Garden City, NY (PRWEB) June 24, 2014

NAPW honors Catrina L. Shafer as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Shafer is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in the oil and gas industry. As the largest, most-recognized organization of women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and more than 300 Local Chapters.

I have several key responsibilities at BP Lower48. My primary responsibility is analyzing and reporting production data, says Ms. Shafer, HVR Analyst, at BP Lower48. I also ensure that we meet state regulatory and federal reporting compliance requirements, provide support to the new well delivery team and their supporting functions. I manage critical asset information within Energy Components 10, so that extending dependent databases have correct information ensuring a smooth workflow process.

At BP for only four short years, Ms. Shafers responsibilities at the company have been diverse. From her ability to expertly manage time, large amounts of data and projects to her exceptional technical know-how, Ms. Shafers skill set and knowledge of the oil and gas industry have grown exponentially. The field is a dynamic one, says Ms. Shafer, and the constant change is both challenging and rewarding. I really thrive on the daily challenges and overall experience of working in the oil and gas industry!

A dedicated professional, Ms. Shafer also serves on many BP initiatives. The Great Place to Work committee, focuses on making a positive impact on the communities where we live and work, while the Veterans Business Resource Group works to provide support and resources to all BP veterans and their families.

My future goals include project management and/or team leadership roles. I like to work and be accomplished on my own, however, working with a team or on a project is just as rewarding and beneficial, she says. BP has really launched a career for me rather than just having a job. I now have opportunities that would have otherwise not been afforded to me.
