Many say your wedding day is one of the happiest days of your life....
And a group of women has held on to more than just the memories from their special day...
Some say love and marriage go together like a horse and carriage.
"They took their honeymoon, this was before cars, in a buggy and went 50 miles north to my dad's homestead," says Catherine Seidler, 90 years old.
Catherine Seidler is one of many women telling stories of past wedding days at Touchmark's June Wedding Celebration.
"The stories are just pouring out and I think it's great for the camaraderie amongst the residents of just learning something they didn't know about their friends that live here," says Amy Miller, Life Enrichment Director, Touchmark.
Violet Nicola married her husband in 1947...
"Our families were friends all our lives. All the time we lived inMcCluskyy we were neighbors so consequently my husband and his two sisters saw me when I was only 10 days old," says Nicola.
Close friends growing up, she says they didn't "go together" until after he came home from service.
"He said I grew up (laughs)," says Nicola.
When the ladies here at Touchmark said "I do" it was a number of years ago, but their wedding gowns are gathered here today to bring back the memories from their special day.
"She wore this dress and on their 50th wedding anniversary, one of my granddaughters modeled the dress and one of my daughters has worn the dress for her wedding," says Seidler.
15 wedding dresses are on display...including Catherine's mother's 105 year old wedding gown.
"The dress was always held to quite high esteem in our family," says Seidler.
A dress that will continue to be passed down and preserved in her family.
"It's very close to our hearts," says Seidler.
Although this room is filled with something old, new, borrowed, and blue...from years ago...
the memories of what the dresses represent still live on today.
"We had a wonderful, wonderful 47 years," says Nicola.
"It's been a happy marriage although he's gone, 24 years but, I prize our happiness with family," says Seidler.
Touchmark's June Wedding Celebration is today only from 10pm until 4 and is open to the public.
The event also featured a "reception" with cake, champagne, live music and dancing.
