Mandan Police Investigate Reports of Shots Fired


The Mandan Police Department received two separate reports of gunshots in northeast and northwest Mandan this morning at 5 am.

While Police were investigating the call, they received a report of a vehicle on the 100 block of 7th Street NE that had been broken into.

A witness gave a description of suspects in the incident.

A short time later two juveniles matching the description were located and detained.

Further investigation revealed the two juveniles had removed two handguns and other items from the cars.

The juveniles also admitted to firing each of the handguns.

The two suspects are 15 and 17 year old boys with Mandan addresses.

They were issued citations for theft of a gun from a motor vehicle, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, concealed weapon violation, discharging firearms in city limits, minor consumption of alcohol and curfew violation.

They were taken to the Youth Correctional Center in Mandan.
