The 39th Annual McQuade Softball tournament took a turn for the worse today, no thanks to mother nature.
Only a few rounds made it through this morning before the torrential rain began.
The men's groups C and D were unable to play any games today due to the conditions of the fields at the Clem Kelly Diamonds.
The morning started out with teams getting the word it would be an hour by hour bases to see if the weather would clear.
And the rain did let up some earlier in the day, but as soon as grounds crews hit the field to pump the water off, the rain would begin again.
And Director Mike Wolf had to make the announcement everyone was dreading.
"We have to make the unfortunate decision, you know we hate it as much as the players and fans do. We're just going to have to flip coins for all the Saturday games to determine who the winners are for that game, and that will put us right into Sunday and if Sunday's nice tomorrow we would just start the Sunday day of the tournament just like nothing happened today."
The decision is never popular with all of the players, many want to tough it out and play in the rain.
Lenna (Lee-na) Moran and her team understand there is a risk when it is wet but think there should be an alternative method to handling returning champions.
"We won the championship last year and this year we're defending the title and um we lost this year because of the draw of the cards and I just think that it's unfair, and we should be able to have a bye."
