Teacher Pleads Not Guilty in Obscenity Case

Posted: Updated:
A former Mandan teacher charged with promoting obscenity to minors pleaded not guilty in court today.

Scott Allan pleaded not guilty to the obscenity charge - a felony - and another charge of disorderly conduct.

Court documents state that Allan wrote a sexually explicit book, then gave it to two of his students.

One student was a minor.

The students told police their first names, and similar last names, were used for characters in the book.

Allan turned himself in to police on May 28.

He was placed on administrative leave by Mandan Public Schools on May 22nd and resigned later that day.

His trial is set for September 30 in Mandan.
