The Fourth of July is coming up, but you'll want to pay special attention to Minot's city ordinance before lighting off fireworks.
The Minot police department has placed marquees at the North and South entrances of Minot.
They want to make sure everyone knows before Independence Day that setting off these explosives in city limits could mean a $150 fine.
(Capt. John Klug) "Really it boils down to, we want everyone to be safe. We want them to have fun, but for us the city ordinance, it prohibits the use of fireworks, even the possession of fireworks within the city limits. If we get complaints, then we are going to have to follow up on those and people could be cited for those violations."
A two-year-old child was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Minot Sunday evening.
They ask if you have any information about the incident that you contact them at 852-0111.
