Fatal Hit and Run Near Drake

Posted: Updated:
One man was killed after he was stuck by a semi truck in the early morning hours today near Drake.

The incident happened here, at the intersection of Highways 52 and 14 west of Drake.

The man was driving his own vehicle when he went off the road into a slough on the south side of Highway 52.

Officials say the man -- whose name has not yet been released -- went to the road after leaving his car to try and flag down help -- when he was struck and killed by a semi.

Authorities are now searching for that semi and are asking for your help.

It is believed to be a 2007 Volvo semi either red or maroon in color.

There would be front passenger side damage to the grill, including the fender and headlight area.

The Highway Patrol says the semi was headed west, possibly heading to Canada, Williston, or Montana.

If you have any information that could help track down this truck and driver -- you are asked to call 701.328.9921 or your local law enforcement.
