The Church of Scientology published the latest "Meet a Scientologist" video July 4, 2014, on the Scientology Video Channel at http://www.Scientology.org and the YouTube Scientology Video Channelsculptor, photographer and graphic artist Natalia Escallon of Bogotá, Colombia, shares her passion for her work.

Art is not only a profession for Natalia Escallonit is a way of life.

This is the way Ive always been, says Escallon. As a child, I would paint my room with murals of little dolls. Color, a pencil, clayI was always doing something creative.

Determined to align this passion to a livelihood, Escallon studied graphic design but found it too constricting. I wanted to create freelywithout having to answer to anyone, without having to obey specific parameters, she says. That was why I chose to become an artist.

She loves the innovative and revels in the nuances of her work and the way each piece of sculpture evolves. I like to communicate through natureto shape the branches of trees, to pull them out of a simple piece of clay, she says. I especially love my sculptural tree murals. Because they are affected by light, as the piece rotates or people walk around themstopping, bending, shifting their positionthey see things they didnt see before. So every time a person approaches one of these pieces, there is a different aspect of the work to see. Each time, it is a new experience.

She shares her love of creativity through teaching. I teach art to teenagershow to express themselves freely without letting anyone introvert them, she says. I especially enjoy exploring with them the way art affects society. Working with them, it is like rediscovering art every day.

She also teaches photography to adultsbusiness administrators, lawyers, designersand loves to share the wins of her students, such one who said, through photography I have seen things that have always been there in a whole new way, things I have never seen before.

Escallon was introduced to Scientology by a family friend and found it fascinating. I realized I could be more myself through Scientology, she says, that I could be a better person. You find so many tools that serve you in your daily lifein your work, with your family or friendswith everyone you know. And it is something you can apply all the time.

One aspect of Scientology particularly helped her in her work. I learned how to communicate better. And because I use communication in my work, and art ultimately is thatcommunicationmy art really reaches people. For me, Scientology is a way of life. It means learning new things every day, seeing the world in a new way, and living every second.
