Vistas Back in the Game

Posted: Updated:

It's been more than a week since the Minot Vistas stepped foot on their home field.

Tonight they'll be back at it after the Independence Day break hosting Watford city in an inter-legion class matchup at Corbett.

The "AA" Vistas take on the Class A Watford City Walleye. A team that's built from a majority of the North Dakota Class B state High school baseball champions.

Skipper Todd Larson says he won't underestimate the Walleye- regardless of their classification.

(Todd Larson/ Vistas Head Coach)"I know Watford is a talented team. They won the Class B high school championship. When we play baseball here I don't worry about what league they are, a baseball player is a baseball player. They have a couple good throwers I'm sure we'll see them tonight and I look forward to the challenge."

No doubt the mid season break was much needed for the Vistas.

Dwelling two games under the 500 mark and dropping 4 of five before the break-- they're hoping the fresh legs will help elevated them in the month of July.

(Todd Larson) "I think the freshness will be there whether or not we get back to where are swings were at or our defense was at. We'll have to wait and see but I expect a lot more energy out of the kids tonight. Offensively, defensively we have to be more consistent on the hill. We have to be more consistent if we want to be a threat in the state tournament at the end of July."

(Jake Magnuson/ Catcher )"I feel good, everyone should be excited to be back after a little break there. We'll get back to playing good baseball, we didn't play as well as we wanted to in Minnesota to end the first half. So we should be ready to play well in the second half here."

Game one of the double header is underway as we speak--- Shawn Daneilson got the nod as the starting pitcher--- we'll have highlights tonight at ten.
