No Injuries Reported in Garage Fire

A family evacuates their home safely after a garage fire south of Bismarck.

Bismarck rural firefighters responded to a report of a garage fire just after five o'clock Monday evening.

The home at 4901 Willow Oakes Road is owned by Judy and Mike Davis.

Judy says she heard the smoke alarms going off and thought it was the grill she had been trying to start.

She then opened the garage door and the whole room was filled with flames and smoke.

She, her husband, her son, 4 dogs and a couple cats all got out safely.

Firefighters with the Bismarck Rural fire ddepartmentsay there were no injuries to any people or firefighters, and they had the fire knocked out within around 20 minutes.

The damage did extend from the garage into part of the home.

Bismarck Rural responders say they have turned the scene over to the fire marshal, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
