Jury Finds Joshua Clark Guilty in Murder Case

Posted: Updated:

On Day 3 of a 5 day trial.. the John Swain murder case comes to a close.

The jury convicts Joshua Clark guilty of conspiracy to commit murder.

Macy Egeland has more from the Burleigh County Courthouse.

After just 2 and a half hours of deliberation, the jury finds Joshua Clark guilty of conspiracy to commit murder.

Before the verdict, Clark himself took the stand to testify.

"I regret that I hit him in the head, but I don't believe that I caused his death. I regret that I assisted in cutting off the legs," Joshua Clark said.

After Judge Haskell announced the verdict, each member of the jury individually stated that yes, they do find Clark guilty of the charge.

Judge Haskell ordered a pre-sentence investigation which will include a psychological evaluation and chemical dependency evaluation.

Clark faces up to life in prison for the AA felony.

Reporting in Bismarck, I'm Macy Egeland.

According to the prosecutors in this case, the pre-sentence investigation will probably take around 90 days to complete.
