Kids Explore Bismarck Area

Posted: Updated:
 By Alicia Ewen

Summer school students abandoned their desks to learn first hand about all the outdoors has to offer.

Students from Simle Middle School  visited the Game and Fish Department to learn about animals living in the Bismarck area.

Kids fished off the side of the bridge and even went on a nature walk.

There they learn about how to tell the difference between different kinds of animal prints.

Teachers at the school say that these are times when fun and learning go hand and hand.

"Have fun you know learn about even the area around Bismarck and the different types of habitats and animals."  said Andrew Voorhees, Simle Middle school teacher.

"It's better than sitting in chairs." said Natalie Vinchattle, a student from Simle Middle school.

Even though they didn't have any luck fishing, they did find a pheasant nest with chicks inside.
