Eye on Energy: Regional Plan for Sustainable Development

Posted: Updated:

Vision West is wrapping up a three year effort to identify impacts of growth in the region.

The three year grant ends in December.

Vision West has released a Regional Plan for Sustainable Development which addresses five primary issues: child care, emergency services, housing, transportation and water.

An additional 12 topics were also identified in relation to long-term quality of life in a post-boom region.

Spokesperson Shirley Brentrup says it does not matter what KIND of boom is taking place, the recommendations in the regional plan can apply to any area experiencing rapid economic growth.

(Shirley Brentrup, Vision West) "There are places around the country that can look at what we have been doing, the people we've been working with, the data that we have asked for and gotten. They can do that very same thing and it will help them in the long run. A lot of our webinars are now being watched by people in Texas and Oklahoma and Colorado, we're a little bit ahead of those folks but not by much."
