App To Help Parents Track Students on the Bus

Posted: Updated:

Parents of students in the Bismarck school district will soon be able to track their students getting on and off the bus for the upcoming school year.

Last year Bismarck Public Schools rolled out the ZPass to monitor where children are located going to and from school.

All students who take the bus have a ZPass card that tells the school when they get on and off.

Now that same information will be available to parents through a ZPass+ app.

The non-mandatory service costs between six and eight dollars a month.

"What they would be able to do is watch their child get on the bus as soon as their card is actually- it's a proximity card, so as soon as it registers it would show they got on the bus and when they got off the bus it would show that also," says Bismarck Public Schools Manager Darin Scherr.

The new ZPass cards will be distributed to students during the first week of school.
