City Manager Selected

Posted: Updated:

The committee charged with finding a new city manager for Minot has made its choice.

Following two days of meetings and interviews, committee members voted to enter contract negotiations with Lee Staab.

Staab was most recently the president of a company called Versar International, but has also been in the military and with the Corps of Engineers.

Committee members said said Staab's job experience and leadership skills tipped the scales in his favor.

(Pam Karpenko, Search Committee Member) "Our community right now is at a point of change and we need someone who is going to be positive and lead us forward and enthusiastic about our future and that can confidently lead us in that direction who understands what that means."

(Dave Pankow, Search Committee Member) "I make the motion that we move to negotiation for hire Lee Staab. Second."

With that, city council president Mark Jantzer negotiated the specifics of a contract with Lee Staab to be the new city manager at a salary of 145-thousand dollars per year.

He's scheduled to begin the job September 15th.
