Bismarck Comic Fans Celebrate the Life of Archie

Posted: Updated:

Comic book fans of all ages say goodbye to a special friend at Action Jackson Comics in Downtown Bismarck.

Archie Andrews from the popular comic "Life with Archie" takes his last page in the 36th issue.

Archie is killed sacrificing his own life to save a friend's from a shooter.

The final comic in this series was released today.

Archie's biggest fans gathered at a memorial service to remember his life and the lessons he taught them along the way.

"He took the bullet for his friend and and ended up dying and it's reported in the comic that his last words are, "Is everyone ok?" And that sums up Archie right there," says Owner of Action Jackson Comics Jackson Bird.

"Archie was just he was always good for a laugh. You could go and you could visit, but he was also culturally relevant," says Pastor Jacob DeBoer.

"This one was my favorite because he was saying he was on time, yet he forgot his pants," Jaxon.

But, Archie fans still have reason to smile.

Comics "Archie," "Betty and Veronica" and "Archie Double Digest" will still be in publication, with Archie very much alive.
