The Bismarck Parks District gears up for its 12th national amateur softball association championship.
The American Softball Association's Girls 16 and Under B Northern Nationals will begin on July 30th with an opening ceremony at the state capitol.
The tournament will continue through August 3rd at the Clem Kelly softball complex.
Facilities and Programs Director Kevin Klipfel says the Parks District hopes to see between 30 and 40 teams compete.
He says Bismarck has become a popular hub for softball tournaments thanks to its many volunteers.
"I think it's the support that we get from the community, the local softball associations, the fast pitch groups, the slow pitch groups, they all are very helpful when we have events like this," says Bismarck Parks District Facilities and Programs Director Kevin Klipfel.
The event will also include a watermelon feed and a parade of athletes.
