Reminders When Out in the Heat

Posted: Updated:

Well the heat haters aren't going to be fans of this weekend's forecast.

Hot weather is here and looks like it will be sticking around through next week.

While it's a sure thing the Missouri river will be packed, Boat and Water Safety Coordinator Nancy Boldt reminds us how to stay safe.

She says to use common sense and courtesy as there will be a lot of traffic and people in the water.

The biggest dangers are wave action, temperature of the day, and how much alcohol you consume.

Boldt says to opt for water to stay hydrated if you're going to be on the water for several hours and wear a life jacket.

There will be a presence of enforcement officers but Boldt says if you see anything suspicious, take a picture, and call it in to state radio at 328-9921.
