In Bismarck For Good

Posted: Updated:
As any one who goes to school can tell you, summer is the best time of year.

But while many young people spend this time going on vacation or going to summer camp, one group from Bismarck Community Church is rolling up their sleeves and getting to work.

Its a program called 'In Bismarck for Good'-- it challenges middle schoolers  to sacrifice a week of their summer to serve the community.

Organizers started the event to give these 15 middle schoolers a chance to experience a mission trip without leaving their home town.

They spent their days doing yard work, painting, cleaning and their nights camping out at the church.

They volunteered at several local non profits such as the Welcome House, Edgewood vista, and Good Samaritan Society.

The students said the work wasn't easy but they were grateful to be helping someone in need.
