New ND State Prison Warden Hopes to Recruit Staff

Posted: Updated:

The North Dakota State Penitentiary has a new face overseeing prison operations.

Colby Braun took over as warden earlier this month.

Braun says he's taking time to learn how the facility operates.

He says the state pen is focusing on recruiting and retaining staff, and managing bed space.

He says his goal is to continue to make the prison a safe place for people to change, and to give inmates employment opportunities and skills on their way out of prison.

"It's all of our jobs, whether you're the warden, whether you're a correctional officer, or you're the physical plant director, all of us work together to help people make change in their lives," says North Dakota State Penitentiary Warden Colby Braun.

There are currently over 700 inmates at the state prison.
