Construction Accident Leaves Bismarck Businesses Without Power

Posted: Updated:

Multiple Bismarck businesses lose power this afternoon after a construction accident..

Around 12:00, crews were digging near Yegen Road when one of their backhoes snagged an overhead power line.

People in the area say they heard an explosion and when they came out, there was a grassfire.

The employee who was working in the backhoe at the time had to stay in the tractor due to the live wires.

Many of the lines were completely snapped in half.. causing businesses in that area and along Expressway to lose power.

Luckily no one was injured, but it has caused an issue for not only the businesses in the area, but for their consumers..

"We were all standing right over there next thing you know we heard an explosion. The wires fell. A bunch of grass fire.. the guy's trapped in tractor right here so we called 911 and now nobody can do their job here at BEP, the tank place," Harvey Sanders said.
