Bismarck Marathon Announces New Course

Posted: Updated:
After 3 year on the hill...the Bismarck Marathon announces a new course.

In 2011 the Bismarck Marathon Course moved to the University of Mary hill due flooding on the Missouri River.
Now three years later the course returns to running along the river, but with a twist.
This year's course will lead into Mandan, crossing the Expressway bridge with runners coming back into Bismarck on the Memorial Bridge.
Dave Nash is on the planning committee and says he's excited about this year's race.

(Dave Nash / Marathon Committee) "There is no big hill, I always felt guilty when I marked mile 18 and looked up the hill at the University of Mary. This is just a pretty course, anytime we can get back to the river bottom. It's a beautiful bridge, it's a great run. It's going to be a fun."

Nash says races are filling up fast.
More than 1000 runners have already registered.
Nash says at least 350 volunteers will be needed for this year's race.
You can log on to www.bismarckmarathon.com to register to run or to volunteer.
