Planning for the Fair's 50th

Posted: Updated:

The 2014 North Dakota State Fair is in the books...and now it's on to next year -- the 50th annual event.

As clean-up of the grounds continued Monday, the plans were already moving forward to that celebration...

Perry Olson talked with Fair Manager Renae Korslien about that today.

More than 300-thousand fair goers enjoyed the 9 day run of the ND State Fair this year...but quickly, any signs of its existence will be gone...

(Renae Korslien - NDSF Manager) "If you come out here next Monday, you will hardly be able to tell..."

Clean-up goes quickly...but step inside the Fair office...and you'll quickly discover that work is already underway for the 2015 event -- the 50th anniversary for the event. Renae Korslien says making it the most memorable to date is the goal...

(Renae Korslien - NDSF Manager) "There are a few things that we have considered and talked about and we will have the biggest and best concerts that we can get and all of those things. We don't have definite plans yet but we do plan on having a big celebration for all."

And while she is tight lipped on the concerts -- a massive draw each year to the fair -- she's hopeful that line-up will start to fall into place quickly...

(Renae Korslien - NDSF Manager) "I've got a couple that we have made great offers to!"

And perhaps drive attendance for the 50th year, next summer. In Minot, Perry Olson, KX News.

Attendance numbers for the 2014 fair were strong -- falling just a few thousand shy of the record set in 2013.
