New Power Lines West of Mandan

Posted: Updated:
Extreme wind from earlier this month knocked down a stretch of power lines west of Mandan, and crews are still working to fix them.

On July 6th wind from a passing storm tore down 32 utility poles along I 94 between Mandan and New Salem.

It covered about a two mile stretch.

Residents lost power in the area, but Mor-Gran-Sou rerouted the lines to get people the power they needed.

Operations Manager Randy Ressler says the work on the new lines will not cause interruption of power.

He says these transmission lines carry electricity a long way...

"This is a transmission line that transmits power to the Mandan area from the Leland Olds Power Plant in Stanton.  Transmission lines are designed to transmit large blocks of power long distances." says Randy Ressler, Manager of Operations at Mor-Gran-Sue Electric

Ressler says the new piece of line will be operational in about a week.
