Ag Rail Council Address Train Delays

Posted: Updated:
Today the North Dakota Ag Rail Business Council met with top officials from BNSF to discuss problems with shipping grain for the upcoming harvest.

The railway announced in February a record capital budget of $5 billion dollars for 2014.

This is up from 1 billion from 2013.

Miller says much of this will be used in North Dakota to expand and build more low-speed tracks which should increase capacity and performance.

He says BNSF is spending more on line capacity, locomotives, and people--all in efforts to meet the record number of ag products coming in and out of North Dakota.

"We expect the growth to continue because quite frankly we are bullish on ag in North Dakota, we are bullish on ag exports in particular out of the P&W.  We think that's a story that's a success story that will last for years and years to come." says John Miller, Ag products, BNSF railway

Miller says they have already sold more shuttles and freight than this time last year.
