A driver of a pickup was killed early this morning after the vehicle was struck by a train.
According to the State Highway Patrol, the collision happened at 12:26 this morning near Highway 2 in McHenry County.
The Ford pickup was off the roadway and appeared to be stuck on the tracks approximately 7 miles east of Granville.
A BNSF freight train traveling east noticed the pickup's head light and used it's emergency braking, but ended up striking the vehicle.
Subsequently, the pickup ignited.
Several crews responded and the flames were extinguished.
The driver is not being identified at this time.
