The first case of West Nile in North Dakota has been reported.The North Dakota Department of Health says the woman is in her 50's and lives in Richland County.
The woman has not been hospitalized for the illness.
At this time last year North Dakota had already reported eight cases of West Nile Virus.
The Department of Health says its important for people over 50, and those with medical conditions to prevent mosquito bites.
Common symptoms of West Nile are fever, headache, body aches and rash.
To reduce the risk of being bitten, use insect repellent, limit outdoor activities at dusk and dawn, and wear long pants and long sleeves.
Also eliminate standing water, and keep grass trimmed.
