Farmers Market at the Capitol

Posted: Updated:
Farm produce takes over the state Capitol grounds.

This is the 10th annual Farmers Market at the Capitol.
It's also the largest.
More than 30 vendors are on display.
Bringing not just fruits and vegetables from the farm, but baked goods, jams, jellies, honey even meat and milk.

(Doug Goehring / ND Ag Commissioner) Not only have we continued to get more vendors involved, but this year we have actually had the ability to do something that we have never done before to expand and broaden the farmers market and this market, which is bringing dairy and meat products here. We have milk, yogurt, cheese we also have pork chops, ham steaks, beef sticks, steak and ground beef. We have never had that before.
(Kara Winkler / Farmers Market Vendor) "We do a variety of produce, beans, kale, all the greens and potatoes, carrots. Then we do baked goods, flavored popcorn, which is a big hit. My mom does goat milk soap and also jumbo muffins, kinda everything."

Winkler says beans and peas are two of the best sellers.
