Business Beat 8-7-14

Posted: Updated:

We'll start with an opening...and a closing. First the opening. McDonald's latest Minot location on 31st officially opened its doors today. It's the third location in Minot -- and the first addition in years. The Dakota Square location did receive a facelift in recent years, but this is the first addition in decades.

Zimmerman's Furniture on the corner of Burdick and Broadway will soon shut its doors for good. The Minot location will remain open through the end of the month...but plan on August 31st being the final day of business here.

A Minot native is back and in business in the Magic City...Here, at Chiropractic Associates at 720 20th Ave. SW you'll find Dr. MacKenzie Jones. The Minot High School graduate has recently finished up schooling in the Twin Cities and this summer joined the staff at Chiropractic Associates. She says joining that staff of Dr. Steve Pederson and Dr. Jason Britnell has proven to be a good move.

(Dr. MacKenzie J. Jones - Chiropractic Associates) "I am very glad that I went that route instead of trying to open my own right off the bat because I am learning so much from him and Dr. Britnell still. They are very helpful when I have any questions about patients or anything."

Finally -- tomorrow is the opening of a very large apartment complex in Minot -- IRET is set to open the first wing of the Commons at Southgate. 233 units in total...but 121 will open first, with the others to follow in the coming weeks. It is a top of the line complex with one bedroom units starting at about 750 bucks and running north from there for high end three-bedroom units.

(Justin Hammer - IRET) "Granite countertops, indoor pool, outdoor pool, large workout room, underground heated parking, dog park, couple pet friendly buildings. Anything anyone is looking for it has."

You can contact IRET to inquire about getting into one of these units. With Business Beat, I'm Perry Olson.
