Bismarck High Boy's Soccer Putting Last Year Behind Them

Posted: Updated:
Century--Bismarck High--is one of the biggest high school rivalries in the West--and nothing adds to that rivalry more than going head to head in a state title game.

And that is exactly what happened last year in boys soccer.
The two town rivals going to penalty kicks to decide their fate--Century coming home with the hardware 4-3.
This year the BHS team is putting that loss aside and focusing on developing their younger players.
The Demons lost six critical players from last year--including their starting goal keeper.
Head Coach Tim Green has learned from the past years what it will take to get back to state this year.

"It's a fresh, um because it is so different this year, just as it is for them, but the one thing that I do take away every year is never too high never too low, so there are moments that are just so exciting, you got to maintain there, and then there are moments that are really challenging too, and so you've got to be able to maintain that level headedness there as well, so as long as our team can stay healthy, um and level, I think we're going to be in good shape. "

The one advantage the Demons have is an aspect that no one can take away--- their comradery off the field.
Most of these players are friends when the jerseys are taken off and Senior Cody Evanson is hopeful this will be a strength for the team.

"When we come out on the field we know each other, we know how each other act around each other we know where each other are going to be on the field, I don't know it's just, it's just like playing with friends, it's always more comfortable then when you're playing with strangers. "
