PSC Chairman at Enbridge on 8-11

Posted: Updated:

All around North Dakota, new construction seems to be popping up every day, and that means what's underneath the ground is changing too.

By dialing 8-1-1 you have the ability to know what's beneath your feet, and future possibilities of your property.

To raise awareness about calling before digging, the North Dakota Public Service Commission Chairman Brian Kalk has a few words for you.

(Brian Kalk, Public Service Commission Chairman) "The goal is compliance, not to fine people. If someone does not use call before you dig, and someone files a complaint with the public service commission, we have the ability to fine up to $25,000 per occurrence. It's a pretty hefty fine. We have levied those fines over the last three years, and we will continue to do that for those bad actors, but I think the most important thing is to keep the training and education programs going."
